It's a wonderful story about overcoming fears and doing what's necessary for country, for family, and for love. Her children are adorable, and Miss Beasley, the town librarian and friend to the Parker family, is perfect in her role as a curmudgeonly friend. And Ellie's life has been just as hard, illegitimate in a strict religious family. Will is just a sweetheart with a backstory that could make you weep. It's a joy to read a story where the setting is so well done. I'm not quite old enough to validate them myself, but I heard plenty of stories from my parents about listening to radios and working on a farm. Then he saw her classified ad: WANTED-A husband. All he needed was for someone to give him a chance. He yearned for the tenderness he had never known, the home hed never had. Spencer does a terrific job of getting all the details right. He drifted into Whitney, Georgia, one lazy afternoon in the summer of 1941, hoping to put his lonely past behind him. This is a wonderful story of a country coming off the Depression into the throes of war. The two immediately recognize that the other is exactly what they need, but it takes a few months before they fall in love and marry. Eleanor Dinsmore is a pregnant widow with two toddlers and a farm full of junk.

Will Parker is an ex-con looking for a job and home in Georgia when he sees an advertisement from a woman looking for a husband. On the whole, Morning Glory isn't going to sweep any of the major awards, but it's a gentle way to pass two hours and get a few good laughs in the process.Morning Glory is a historical romance that takes place in Georgia just as WWII breaks out. A significant part of the the plot is his character's personal growth. Here he plays the gruffly lovable curmudgeon pretty well. While he hasn't had much success in the field, he is actually very good at comedy usually playing the straight man to what is going on around him.

He gets in a few good zingers early on though. While an over stated, loud performance would have sufficed, Goldblum plays it a pragmatic working guy. While none of the cast is terrible, standing out are a low-key Jeff Goldblum, playing a cynical network executive. What really matters is how well the characters are written and how well the actors play their respective parts. A plot like this doesn't really have much in the way of surprises. and thus they are off toward saving the show.

She is put in charge of an ailing morning program, and when told that it is on its last leg, she takes the novel and bizarre step of forcing well-respected television journalist Mike Pomeroy into the co-host position via a quirk of his contract.

Here we meet Becky Fuller, trying to make the jump from local to network news show producer. Sometimes the audience takes a breather too. In that time between summer blockbusters and the full-on Oscar blitz is time for Hollywood to take a breather.
